Work or Pay
About two weeks ago, I met with a small business owner looking to grow his business.
But he had a predicament.
He had spent a bunch of money on advertising already (not with my company) and didn’t get a good return.
But he also didn’t really want to learn marketing or put in the time to become an expert. And he certainly didn’t want to create videos or write content.
So he didn’t want to spend money on marketing or work to improve his marketing.
He just wanted marketing to work.
Let me share with you a secret: I want the same thing.
But it doesn’t work.
We live in a world that values attention.
But in order to get the attention you either need to purchase it (pay) or create something that attracts it (work).
There is no other option. In the long run, there’s no free marketing. You either pay for it with your wallet or with your time.
Don’t get me wrong, you always want to get the best deal possible. You want to track your ROI. You want to work smarter rather than harder.
All that’s true.
But at the end of the day, good marketing always takes capital.
Just like you can’t ever make money in the market unless you’re invested, you will never grow your business unless you invest in it.
And investing in good marketing is almost always a better investment than anything you can buy in the stock market.
But there’s no magic bullet. No one stop solution. No free lunch.
If you want to grow your business either get out your wallet or start breaking a sweat.
If you want to grow fast, you’ll do both.
